A Bowling Green man charged in connection with the death of his daughter will enter into mediation in an attempt to settle his criminal case.

Damian Renard Bowden, 50, made a brief appearance Monday afternoon in Warren Circuit Court, where he faces charges of murder, abuse of a corpse, two counts of theft by unlawful taking and tampering with physical evidence.

Bowden is accused of stabbing his daughter, 30-year-old Daquanna Bowden, multiple times on Aug. 27, 2022, at his Scottsville Road apartment.

Warren Circuit Court Judge J.B. Hines ordered a mediation session to take place on April 25 between Bowden’s defense team and the Warren County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.

Mediation is a process in which two or more parties in a legal case meet confidentially out of court to discuss the issues in dispute in their criminal case in the presence of a mediator, a neutral third party who can facilitate a resolution.

In Kentucky, mediators in felony cases are typically retired judges who have training and experience in mediation.

Bowden’s next court date is May 6 for a pretrial conference.

No trial date has been set.

Bowden has been held in Warren County Regional Jail since Oct. 18, 2022.

Daquanna Bowden’s body was found Sept. 9, 2022, in her father’s apartment by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, which had been called out to Payton Landing Apartments.

According to prior court testimony, the body was found in a bathtub wrapped in two shower curtains. An autopsy determined she had been stabbed 23 times.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office investigated the death, learning that Daquanna Bowden had been staying with her father after being evicted from a neighboring apartment.

A 2010 Volkswagen Tiguan SUV belonging to Daquanna Bowden was missing from the apartment complex at the time deputies arrived at the outset of the death investigation.

According to court filings, deputies obtained surveillance video footage that showed the SUV leaving the apartment complex on the morning of Aug. 27, 2022, and Damian Bowden’s cellphone pinged to cell towers at Greenwood Lane, Shive Lane and Campbell Lane that morning.

Detectives believe that Damian Bowden had returned to his apartment that morning after serving a five-day sentence at Warren County Regional Jail following a guilty plea to a misdemeanor assault count against Daquanna Bowden.

Court records indicate that Daquanna Bowden alleged that her father had struck her and taken her keys, leading her father’s arrest on Aug. 23, 2022, at his apartment.

Law enforcement said that Damian Bowden’s cellphone pinged off towers in Cross Plains, Tennessee and Nashville, on Aug. 27, 2022, when his daughter’s SUV was seen leaving the apartment complex.

The SUV was found unoccupied in Nashville on Sept. 23, 2022, containing a backpack with about $10,000 in it, court records show.

WCSO detectives executing a search warrant for the vehicle found Damian Bowden’s phone, ID, apartment key, medications and wallet, as well as Daquanna Bowden’s ID, WCSO Detective Vedad Hadzikadunic testified during a 2022 hearing in Warren District Court.

According to an arrest warrant, detectives seized two knives from the apartment and found Daquanna Bowden’s purse and phone there.

Damien Bowden was arrested on Oct. 12, 2022, at a Nashville homeless shelter and eventually brought back to Bowling Green, where he gave a statement to detectives.
