GPD officer injured during chase, suspect arrested

A Glasgow Police Department officer was injured Sunday during a pursuit of a fleeing driver, who was later arrested.

According to GPD, officers were attempting to stop a 2003 Chevrolet Impala that struck a 2019 Nissan Versa driven by Carness Matthews, of Glasgow, at the intersection of W. Main Street and N.L. Rogers Wells Boulevard.

GPD Sgt. Wesley Hicks lost sight of the Impala, driven by Nicholas Sizemore, of Glasgow, and Kentucky State Police Tpr. Hayden Phillips located the car and engaged in a pursuit that continued into the parking lot of Rural King, where the Impala struck a GPD cruiser driven by Off. Grant Ward.

Ward was treated and released from T.J. Samson Community Hospital for what GPD described as minor injuries.

Sizemore was arrested on charges of first-degree assault, first-degree fleeing or evading police, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, possession of open alcoholic beverage container on a motor vehicle and numerous traffic offenses.
