A residential fire in Plano destroyed a house and two cars Monday.

Chief Kevin Bailey of the Plano Volunteer Fire Department said firefighters were called to 163 Lakeland Way shortly before 6 p.m. Monday.

“When we got on the scene the house was fully involved,” he said.

The two residents who lived at the house were treated at an area hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, Bailey said.

“The house and two cars were a total loss,” said Bailey, adding that the fire caused vinyl on the exterior of a neighboring residence to melt. “We were able to get some personal belongings out that (the residents) wanted, but other than that everything was totally destroyed.”

Plano firefighters returned to the scene Tuesday morning to extinguish some flames that flared up in one area of the residence, Bailey said.
