Pine Knob Theatre opens the second show of its 20th season Friday with “Down in Hoodoo Holler.” “Hoodoo” is a comedy set in the 1930s and runs through July 14. UAW Local 2164 hosts Joe Hemphrey, Kentucky state service officer for Kentucky’s Veterans of Foreign Wars, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. every third Tuesday at the hall at 712 Plum Springs Loop. The next meeting of the Clarksville (Tenn.) Civil War Roundtable is at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the cafe of Borders Books in the Governor’s Square Mall in Clarksville. This month’s program is “The Battle Of Champion Hill: Decisive Battle of the Vicksburg Campaign,” presented by Tim Smith, historian of Shiloh National Military Park and author of the recent book on the battle of Champion Hill. Smith will detail the plans, leadership problems for both sides and the battles in his presentation. It’s a command study the U.S. Army still utilizes to teach officers about combat leadership and how to operate in a campaign.
