Alaina Neely, a nursing student at Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College, received the inaugural Dr. Amy B. Embry Memorial Scholarship during a ceremony at the college’s Glasgow Health Campus on Feb. 20.
Neely is originally from Butler County and a nursing student at SKYCTC’s Glasgow campus.
The scholarship, established in memory of Dr. Amy Embry, an assistant professor at SKYCTC, aims to honor her legacy and support aspiring healthcare professionals.
Dr. Embry, a beloved assistant professor in the biology department at SKYCTC and a licensed chiropractor, dedicated five years to teaching anatomy and physiology before tragically losing her life in a car accident.
To commemorate her passion to education and healthcare, Dr. Embry’s family established the memorial scholarship in her name.
The Dr. Amy Embry Memorial Scholarship is open to both first-time and current SKYCTC students, whether they are enrolled full-time or part-time.
Preference is given to students who graduated from Butler County High School and have a GPA of 2.5 or higher, either from high school or college. Additionally, applicants must be pursuing an associate degree in allied health. In the absence of eligible allied health degree candidates, second preference is given to students pursuing an Associate in Science degree.
