CTE video nominated for MTV Video Music Award’s Best Rock Video

The video for “Shake Me Down”, the first single released from Cage The Elephant‘s second album, Thank You, Happy Birthday has been nominated as Best Rock Video for the MTV Video Music Awards. The eerie video, embedded below, was directed by Isaac Rentz. 

“Shake Me Down” has spent 35 weeks on Billboards Rock Songs chart, two of those in the #1 position and another 6 at #2.  Currently the song ranks #11, up one from last week.

Cage also recently released their latest video, for the song Around My Head.  It also highlights the band’s darkly bizarre sense of humor.  Around My Head is also charting on Billboard at #15, the highest peak thus far in it’s 16 weeks on the Alternative Songs chart.

Meanwhile, their breakout hit “Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked”, continues to be picked up for a variety of purposes from computer games to movie trailers.  Most recently it can be heard on one of the trailers to the movie Horrible Bosses which is currently in theaters.

Their competition includes: Foo Fighter’s “Walk”, Foster the People’s “Pumped Up Kicks”, Mumford & Sons’ “The Cave” and The Black Keys’ “Howlin’ For You”.  The award show will air August 28 at 8pm Central time.
