Warren County Public Library presents best-selling author Richard Paul Evans

Published 12:00 am Tuesday, November 3, 2009

Richard Paul Evans will speak on Monday, November 23 at 6:00 p.m.  Evans is the best-selling author whose first book The Christmas Box sold more than eight million copies and was made into the Emmy award-winning television movie.

Richard Paul Evans was an advertising executive, an award-winning animator, candidate for state legislature and most importantly, husband and father. The Christmas Box was written as an expression of love for his (then) two daughters.  In 1993, Evans reproduced 20 copies of the final story and gave them to his closest relatives and friends as Christmas presents. In the month following, those 20 copies were passed around more than 160 times, and soon word spread so widely that bookstores began calling his home with orders for it.

He has since written 12 consecutive New York Times bestsellers and is one of the few authors in history to have hit both the fiction and nonfiction bestseller lists. Evans’s latest book, The Christmas List, will be available in October.

“We are honored to have Mr. Evans as our special guest,” says library director Lisa Rice.  “His books are beautifully written and his stories of family, compassion and faith resonate with readers of all ages.”

This event is free and open to the public, but tickets are necessary for admittance.  Free tickets are available at the Main Library, the Bob Kirby Branch and the Smiths Grove Branch. Due to space limitations, this event will be held next door in the Fellowship Hall of the Christ Episcopal Church. For more information, contact Jayne Pelaski at jaynep@warrenpl.org or call 781-4882.
