Leslie R. Brown

Leslie R. “Les” Brown, 80, of Bowling Green died at 11:07 p.m. Aug. 20, 2009, at The Medical Center.

The Logan County native was born July 22, 1929. He was a bookkeeper and manager at Gary Bros. Crushed Stone for 25 years. He then worked for the county government and was Warren County treasurer. He was a Korean War Army veteran. He was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church and received an award from the Kentucky Treasurers Association for outstanding service. He was a kind, loving, gentle father and husband. He loved his family, loved to fish and loved the outdoors, his farm and gardening. He loved to can vegetables for the winter. He was David’s best friend. He was a son of the late Hubert B. Brown and Maude Britt Brown.

Funeral is at 2 p.m. Sunday at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Broadway Avenue chapel, with burial in Gasper River Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and begins at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Forest Park Baptist church Building Fund.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Lois Brown; three sons, Steven R. Brown and his wife, Janet, of Birmingham, Ala., and David N. Brown and his wife, Deena, and Randy W. Brown and his wife, Donna, all of Bowling Green; a special daughter, Nancy Alfonso of Bowling Green; a sister, Goldie Mae Harris of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and grandchildren Leslie, Josh, Tim, Mike, Kacy, Matt, Keith and his wife, Rachel, and Elizabeth.
