Legacy Christian wins KCAA Tip Off Classic

The Legacy Christian Academy boys’ basketball team won the KCAA Tip Off Classic Boys’ Varsity Basketball Tournament this past weekend at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia.
Led by head coach Shaun Cummings, the Eagles won their second consecutive KCAA tournament championship. LCA secured three consecutive wins in two days, overcoming Summit Christian Academy, Bethel Christian Academy and Galilean Christian Academy to seize the title.
Legacy faced Summit Christian Academy in the opening round, securing a hard-fought 47-38 victory. In the semifinal matchup against Bethel Christian Academy, the Eagles soared to a 66-52 win, setting up a rematch of last year’s final against Galilean Christian Academy. The Eagles defeated Galilean 64-40 to reclaim their title.
The Eagles’ charge was led by senior guard Cole Phillips, who averaged 27 points, five rebounds and four assists per game throughout the tournament. Senior center Trace Stivers contributed significantly on both ends of the floor averaging six points, 10 rebounds, six assists and four blocks per game. Freshman guard Mason Phillips also made a strong impact, averaging 11 points, five rebounds and three assists per game.
Recognized for their outstanding performances, both Stivers and Mason Phillips were named to the All-Tournament Team, while Cole Phillips was named Tournament MVP.
