40 Western students in 2009 ‘Who’s Who’

The 2009 “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges” includes 40 Western Kentucky University students.

The following students were selected based on academic achievement, community service, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success:

From Baton Rouge, La.: Brooke Hadley, a secondary social studies certification major.

From Bloomfield: Tyler Colvin, a finance major.

From Bowling Green: Erin Newman, a music education major; Anne Gray Perrin, a history major; Chasity Rodgers, a public health major; and Amanda Wilson, an accounting major.

From Bradenton, Fla.: Reginald Lane, a public health major; and Jessie Quinn, an accounting and marketing major.

From Brownsboro, Ala.: Erin Goad, a music performance major.

From Campbellsville.: Stefanie Ford, a corporate and organizational communications major.

From Carrollton: Jordan Yocum, a marketing major.

From Edmonton: Aaron Glass, an accounting major.

From Fairdale: Nathan Eaton, a marketing major.

From Franklin, Tenn.: John Bond, a graphic design major.

From Germantown, Tenn.: Natalie Ghassemi, a public relations and communication studies major.

From Goshen: Kristen Dugan, a hospitality management major.

From Hawesville: Stacy Robertson, a public health major.

From Hopkinsville: Tyler Workman, an exercise science major.

From Lexington: Jeff Bracken, a social studies/history major; Erin Fulkerson, an accounting major; Alaina Matthews, a graphic design major; Devin Moran, an English and allied language arts major; and Michelle Reynolds, a history and religious studies major.

From Louisville: Alford Beck, a broadcasting major; Katelyn Hellige, a marketing and communication studies major; and Lauren Parsons, a biology major.

From Mount Vernon: Ryan C. Graham, an accounting major.

From Mount Washington: Molly Cecil, an interior design major.

From Pineville: R. Reagan Gilley, a history, biology and chemistry major.

From Russellville: Clara Pursley, an accounting major; and Rachealle Sanford, a history and anthropology major.

From Shelbyville: Courtney Richardson, a music education major; and Emily Waits, a hospitality management major.

From Shepherdsville: Angelena Edwards, a biology and chemistry major.

From Spring Hill, Tenn.: Lacey Vanderveen, textile/

apparel merchandising and leadership studies major.

From Suffolk, Va.: Taylor Elder, a meteorology and broadcasting major.

From Utica: Taryn Rice, a history major.

From White House, Tenn.: Emily Bain, an accounting and finance major.

GHS takes first place in Governor’s Cup

Greenwood High School took first place in three of the six individual events and also received top honors in Quick Recall and Future Problem Solving on the way to the team championship in the District 13 Governor’s Cup academic competition completed Feb. 7. Julie Hansbrough, Paul Justice and Sarah Travis each scored first in an individual event to lead Greenwood. Hansbrough took first in language arts and placed second in composition. Justice was first in mathematics and Travis was tops in arts and humanities.

Greenwood received 49 total points to win the team championship. Warren Central High School was second with 32.5 points, and Bowling Green was third with 30.5. Nathan Carter was a big scorer for Warren Central, taking first in composition and second in language arts. Warren Central’s Jared Ray was first in science.

Area students named to BCTC dean’s list

Warren County’s Wendy Keith and Matthew Sutman have been named to Bluegrass Community & Technical College’s dean’s list for the 2008 fall semester. Dean’s list students have earned an overall semester grade-point average of 3.5 or better in courses numbered 100 or above.

Beliles of BG named to WKU dean’s list

Chase Andrew Beliles of Bowling Green was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Western Kentucky University.
