RUSSELLVILLE — Gracie Ashby Williams, 89, of Russellville died Oct. 28, 2009, at Logan Memorial Hospital.
The Muhlenberg County native was born Dec. 19, 1919. She was retired from the Housekeeping Department at Logan Memorial Hospital and attended East Side Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Mark Carneal and Cordie Williams Carneal and the wife of the late Gratis Ashby and Willie Williams. She was preceded in death by two sons, Gratis Ashby Jr. and Ronnie Ashby.
Funeral is at 1 p.m. Saturday at Young Funeral Home, with burial in Plainview Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and begins at 8 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Feed the Children.
Survivors include three sons, James Ashby of Russellville, Bernard Ashby of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Larry Ashby of Blacksburg, Va.; two daughters, Shirley Sweat of Bowling Green and Brenda Taylor of Russellville; two brothers, Lonnie and Tommy Carneal, both of Central City; two sisters, Mildred Flener of Central City and Joyce Cline of Adolphus; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
