Top seed Otis rolls into quarters

Girls’ No. 1 seed Jacqueline Otis of Greenwood cruised through her Region 4 Tennis Tournament match on Tuesday in Glasgow.

Otis was awarded a first-round bye as the overall No. 1 seed, then earned a 6-0, 6-0 win to advance to the quarterfinals.

Other singles players advancing to the quarterfinals were Logan County’s Emily Wilson, Bowling Green’s Erin Henry, Glasgow’s Chandra Taylor, Russellville’s Emily Hann, Greenwood’s Jessica Adams, Bowling Green’s Amanda Wilson and Metcalfe County’s Aspen Edwards.

In doubles action, the No. 1 doubles team of Elizabeth Penn and Beth Henry of Bowling Green also advanced to the quarterfinals.

Other doubles teams advancing were Metcalfe County’s Taylor Noe and Sydney Edwards, Greenwood’s Mary and Cassie Pennington, Barren County’s Laura Ross and Ashley Grabowski, Greenwood’s Catherine Wentworth and Jennifer Grothe, Bowling Green’s Katie Pinerola and Haley Baseheart, Caverna’s Dylan Denison and Shelby Banks and Metcalfe County’s Kendra Clark and Callie Jessie.

Quarterfinal action begins this afternoon in Glasgow. The event is being played at Barren County High School and Gorin Park.
