Elma Elidia Monts

Elma Elidia Monts, age 78, passed away peacefully at her home in Franklin, Kentucky, on April 23, 2025, after a battle with cancer. Elma was born on June 13, 1946, in Pearsall, Texas, to Alberto and Anita Rivas.
She had lived in Franklin since November 2013 and was a devoted member of the 31-W North Church of Christ, where she faithfully served alongside others in spreading the gospel. Known for her warm and gentle spirit, Elma encouraged all who knew her and lived her faith through her kindness and service.
She was a wonderful mother to her children and a faithful servant of the Lord throughout her life. Her love, strength, and encouragement left a lasting impact on her family and community.
Elma is preceded in death by her parents, Alberto and Anita Rivas; her sisters, Belia Williams, Genoveva Castillo, Consuelo Anguiano, and Rosa Kelly; and her brothers-in-law, Leonard Anguiano, Aurelio Castillo, and James Dow. Elma is survived by her children and their spouses: Steve and Julie Monts, Justin and Sarah Monts, and Julian and Shannon Chan; her beloved grandchildren: Austin, Penny, Brandon, Cody, Tanner, Odin, and Mary; and her sisters: Eva Young, Flora Padilla, and Elizabeth Dow. She is also lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service honoring Elma’s life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Chapel, Lovers Lane location. Doors will open at 1:30 p.m., with the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Elma’s gentle presence and faithful example will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
