Western Kentucky’s men’s golf team fired an even-par 288 on Tuesday, tied for the fourth best round of the day at the Conference USA Championships, and sits in eighth with one round of stroke play left to play in Texarkana, Arkansas.

The top four teams following Wednesday’s round will advance to match play on Thursday. The Tops are 11-over 587 through 36 holes.

Individually, Nic Hofman sits tied for 10th after an even-par 72. WKU’s best round of the day came from Hayden Warren, a career-best 2-under 70. He moved up 13 spots and sits in 30th. Senior Riley Grindstaff played in place of Stephen Warren on Tuesday, as Warren continues to fight through injury. Grindstaff shot an even-par 72, thanks to four birdies on the back nine.

Hofman is second-best in the field on the par 3s (-1) through two rounds. Hofman has played the par 5s at 5-under, tied for the best player in the field.

Hayden Warren is 4-under on the par 5s through two rounds, seventh-best in the field.

Grindstaff played the par 4s at 1-under on Tuesday, tied for fifth-best in the field.

Doyle’s 26 pars are tied for third-most in the field, just one shy of the tournament lead.

WKU has 115 pars through two rounds, second-best in the field. The Tops also have the second-fewest bogeys in the tournament.

WKU will tee off starting at 9 a.m. CT on Wednesday and play with Louisiana Tech and Jacksonville State. Following Wednesday’s round, the top four teams will advance to match play on Thursday.
