Holloway, Ogden power Spartans to win

South Warren junior Hayden Holloway homered and drove in five runs to lead the Spartans to an 9-1 softball win against Niceville on Wednesday in Niceville, Florida.

Layla Ogden pitched a seven-inning complete game for the win, allowing only one unearned run off four hits and no walks while striking out 11 batters. At the plate, Ogden was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.

Kaylee Wilson and Kinleigh Russell each added an RBI for South Warren (13-2), which is back in action Tuesday at Central Hardin.

Warren East 14, Blacksburg 0

Warren East swept a doubleheader against host Blacksburg on Wednesday, winning 5-1 and 14-0 in five innings in Blacksburg, South Carolina.

In the first first game, Lydia Jones went 3-for-4 to pace the Lady Raiders. Kenzie Upton was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, Jordan Brooks went 2-for-3, and Autumn Brooks added an RBI.

Autumn Brooks tossed a complete game to earn the win, allowing just one run off four hits and no walks over seven innings. She struck out five.

Lydia Jones as 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and four RBIs in the mercy rule-shortened win. Tristen Lindsey went 3-for-4 with four RBIs, Autumn Brooks was 2-for-2, Addison Lee went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs, Upton was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Ashley Parson added an RBI and Kaylee Jones tallied a double.

Lindsey pitched five scoreless innings for the win, striking out three.

Warren East (10-3) was slated to play at Loris (South Carolina) on Thursday.

ACS 19, Harlan Co. 1

Shiloh Knievel went 2-for-2 with a home run, a triple and five RBIs to spark Allen County-Scottsville to a 19-1 win in three innings against Harlan County on Wednesday in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

Payton Hopkins was 3-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs, Aubrey Williams went 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs, Kensley Byrn was 2-for-2, Ally Anderson went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Maddie Gray, Jacie Rice and Haiden Brown each notched an RBI for the Lady Patriots.

Addison Ausbrooks pitched all three innings for the win, allowing just an unearned run off one hit and two walks while striking out six.

ACS (12-2) is back in action Monday at home against Russell County.

Baseball

Greenwood 12, Murray 2

Whitt Glosick went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs to lead Greenwood to a 12-2 win against Murray in six innings on Wednesday in Panama City Beach, Florida.

Chaze Huff was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, Easton Talley went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, Jackson Lee notched a double and an RBI, and Jake Flickinger, Sam Holder, Henry Justice and Zach Davis each drove in a run for the Gators.

Ryan Loiars started and got the win after pitching five shutout innings, allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out four.

Greenwood (11-1) beat Hickman County 7-0 on Thursday and was set to play host Arnold later in Panama City Beach.

Barren County 15, Lexington Catholic 4

JP Hyde went 3-for-3 with a double and drove in four runs as Barren County rolled to a 15-4 win in five innings against Lexington Catholic on Wednesday in Tampa, Florida.

Jackson Reece also went 3-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs, Price Thompson was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Axel Dysholm and Aiden Keeney each drove in two runs for the Trojans.

Cameron Crawford started and earned the win, allowing four runs (three earned) over four innings. He struck out five for Barren County (7-5).
