Western Kentucky senior golfer Catie Craig has accepted her invitation to the 2025 Augusta National Women’s Amateur in Augusta, Georgia, from April 2-5.
“Making my debut at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur is an honor I have always dreamed of accomplishing,” Craig said in a news release. “I am so excited to represent Western Kentucky and my home state of Georgia at the highest stage of amateur golf. I hope this achievement inspires others to work hard and trust in the Lord’s timing.”
Craig has won five times in 34 career events at WKU, posting 19 top-20 finishes in that time. She also won the North & South Amateur in the summer of 2024. She enters the spring season just one win shy of Mary Joiner’s school record of six career victories.
“I couldn’t be more proud of Catie for qualifying for this event,” WKU coach Adam Gary said. “It’s the largest Amateur event in women’s golf. I love to see hard work pay off and she deserves all the accolades. I can’t wait to see her represent WKU in Augusta this April.”
Craig has earned All-CUSA recognition twice, making the third team as a sophomore and the first team as a junior. She has also been on the CUSA Academic Team in each of her years at WKU.
Included in the field are each of the top-50 eligible players from the final World Amateur Golf Ranking of 2024. Players representing 18 different countries and five continents will compete in the Championship, including three of the last four champions: Tsubasa Kajitani (2021), Anna Davis (2022) and defending champion Lottie Woad, the top-ranked amateur in the world.
Beginning the week prior to the 89th Masters Tournament, the international field of 72 players will compete across 54 holes of stroke play, with a cut to 30 players and ties taking place after 36 holes. The first two rounds will take place on the Island and Bluff nines at Champions Retreat Golf Club on April 2-3. The entire field will then play Augusta National for an official practice round on April 4. The final round, featuring competitors who made the cut, will take place on April 5 at Augusta National.
The first and second rounds of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur will be broadcast live on Golf Channel (12:30-2:30 p.m. CT) from Champions Retreat Golf Club. NBC Sports will produce and broadcast three hours (11 a.m.-2 p.m. CT) of live final-round coverage of the event at Augusta National. Additionally, Golf Channel’s “Live From the Masters” will commence on April 4 at Augusta National to provide coverage of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals and the Masters Tournament.
