Smith rules lane for BG

Bowling Green junior Aniyah Smith showed what she is capable of in Friday’s home win against District 14 rival South Warren – and it’s a lot.

The 6-foot-2 junior forward dominated the game with 22 points, nine rebounds and seven blocked shots to help the Lady Purples claim a 44-28 home victory and remain unbeaten in district play.

That kind of production has been the expectation, not the exception, for Smith from Lady Purples coach Calvin Head.

“He told me he expects this out of me every game,” Smith said. “And now that he knows I can do it, it’s a choice if I don’t do it. So I think that’s why I’m like a new go-to person because my team and my coaches expect me to do stuff like this every single time.”
