Adams is charged in one case with five counts of first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor, two counts of use of a minor younger than 16 in a sexual performance, two counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, two counts of third-degree rape, three counts of third-degree sodomy, two counts of procure/promote the use of a minor and one count each of first-degree sexual abuse and tampering with physical evidence.

Those charges stemmed from an investigation begun by the Bowling Green Police Department that resulted in Adams’ arrest in 2022.

A separate indictment charges Adams with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and two misdemeanor drug counts.

In court Monday, Adams’ attorney, Olivia Hester, asked the court to set a date for mediation, in which the defense and prosecution meet to discuss possible resolutions to a criminal case in a closed meeting guided by a mediator, typically a retired judge.

Warren Circuit Judge J.B. Hines scheduled mediation for May 8, with a pretrial conference set for May 20.

Adams is due back in court April 12 for a competency hearing in his criminal cases, following a court order issued in December mandating that he undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

According to an arrest citation, a then-15-year-old girl reported to city police on Sept. 12, 2022, that she had been subjected to sexual contact by Adams.

Two days after that report, Adams acknowledged a sexual relationship with the juvenile and that the two had shared sexually explicit videos with one another, with Adams knowing the juvenile’s age, the arrest citation said.

In a separate investigation undertaken in January 2023 by BGPD, a man claimed to have used CashApp to buy fentanyl from Adams and another person, according to an arrest citation.

No trial date has been set in either case.
