Western Kentucky’s track and field team concluded action at the Lenny Lyles Invitational Saturday at the Norton Sports & Learning Center in Louisville.
“A couple of bright spots today,” WKU head coach Brent Chumbley said in a news release. “This is a tough time of the year for us and we need to focus and push through until we back off for a peak.”
Four Hilltoppers managed top-15 finishes, with multiple just outside.
On the track, Lucy Rutherford’s performance in the 5,000 meters proved to be the lone top-10 finish for the Hilltoppers. Rutherford finished in 19 minutes, 34 seconds, claiming ninth place.
Wade Balcom notched a season best time in the mile, finishing in 4:23.
Nick Fornoff continued a strong indoor campaign, racking up a fifth-place finish in the high jump, jumping 1.90 meters.
Devon Montgomery managed a top-15 finish in the pole vault in his first appearance of the season, clearing 4.42 meters.
The Hilltoppers will head back to Louisville next weekend for the Bellarmine Classic. The meet is slated to run Friday, Feb. 2.
