BOWLING GREEN – Longtime Bowling Green resident Shirley Greer Morris passed away peacefully on December 27, 2023, at Arcadia Senior Living.
She was preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Russell and Marie Greer, her mother, Lessie Devore Greer, and her husband of 65 years, Rodney A. “Pete” Morris.
She is survived by her two sons: Jeffery A. (Mary Ellen) Morris of Franklin, Tennessee, and Chad (Tina) Morris of Bowling Green. She is also survived by three much-loved grandchildren: Branson (Allison) Morris of Chattanooga; Allie Greer Morris of Franklin, Tennessee; and Taylor Morris of Bowling Green.
Shirley was born in Barren County, Kentucky on September 13, 1938. She grew up in Glasgow, Kentucky and was a graduate of Glasgow High School and Lois-Glynn Beauty School. For many years, she worked with her husband at their clothing store, Coachman Ltd., Inc. A self-described “people person,” who never met a stranger, Shirley was as much an expert in making friends with customers as she was in helping them select just the right tie (or ties) to complete an outfit.
Shirley’s greatest joys in life were her many close friends and her family. After retirement, she enjoyed nothing more than attending her grandchildren’s soccer games and other family events, lunching and shopping with her girlfriends, and walking around “the circle” to visit with her neighbors.
Shirley’s family would like to thank the many kind and attentive staff members at Arcadia Senior Living who did so much to make Shirley’s last months happy and fulfilling.
A visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 5th, 2024 at the J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel. Inurnment will take place in the Bowling Green Gardens after the visitation. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, the American Diabetes Association, or the Monroe Carell, Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
