Regional schools anounce closures due to ice, winter weather

Most of the region’s school districts have announced closures for Monday, Jan. 22, and freezing temperatures have kept ice and snow on the ground following last week’s winter storm.
Warren County Schools announced its closure via X, and will use a Non-Traditional Instruction day on Monday.

Bowling Green Independent Schools and Russellville Independent Schools will remain open on Monday.
Logan County Schools announced their closure for Monday due to “road conditions.” According to the district’s website, Monday will be a “snow-day,” meaning the district will not have NTI for its students.
Barren County Schools announced in a tweet its students will have an NTI day on Monday, its fourth so far, citing hazardous road conditions.
“Teachers will be communicating expectations and assignments and they will be available throughout the day to offer assistance,” the district said.
Allen County Schools will also use an NTI day on Monday, citing road conditions. Butler County announced its closure on Facebook, implementing its fifth NTI day so far.
“We eagerly anticipate to return in person on Tuesday,” Butler County Schools said in the announcement. “(We are) hoping the rising temperatures forecasted tomorrow will melt off existing ice covered rural roads.”

Edmonson County Schools are also closed, using its eighth NTI day on Monday.
Simpson County Schools announced their closure Sunday night, taking their fifth NTI day. In a tweet, SCS said teachers and staff will be available from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“We have many spots in the city and county that still are snow and ice covered,” SCS said in the post.
