Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Beals of Bowling Green are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Makenzie Lynn Beals, to Austin David Varner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Brian Varner of Scottsville.

Miss Beals is the granddaughter of the late Carmen Beals-Kimbro, L.A. Beals, Kenneth Kimbro, Thomas Vincent and Margaret Vincent. She is a 2017 graduate of Warren East High School and a 2020 graduate of Western Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She is currently enrolled in the family nurse practitioner program at Northern Kentucky University and is employed by the Medical Center at Bowling Green in the nursery/NICU.

Mr. Varner is the grandson of Eydie Wallander, Kelly Wallander, Dave Varner and Debbie Varner. He is also the grandson of Louis Shelton and the late Nancy Shelton and Johnny Pitchford. He is a 2014 graduate of Allen County-Scottsville High School and a 2019 graduate of Western Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in construction management. He is currently employed by Smith Bros, LLC.

The wedding will be at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 14, 2024, at Elkins Grove in Smiths Grove, with a reception to follow.
