Western Kentucky men’s golf coach Austin King has announced the Hilltoppers’ fall and spring slate for the 2024-25 season Monday.
“This is a great slate for the guys this year,” King said in a news release. “We showed throughout the second half of the year that we can really compete. I’m excited about competing against a handful of Power 5 programs throughout the year.”
The Hilltoppers will open their season in Ruston, Louisiana, as they compete in the Argent Financial Classic. This WKU’s first time traveling to Louisiana Tech since the 2021 season. Following this, the squad travels to Purdue to compete in the Purdue Fall Invitational for the second straight year.
The Tops wrap up September in Madison, Wisconsin, for the Badger Invitational. WKU’s October slate continues in Lexington for the Cullan Brown Intercollegiate, followed by the Furman Intercollegiate in Greenville, South Carolina, to close out the fall season.
Opening spring, the Tops will take on the Mesquite Desert Classic, hosted by Eastern Kentucky. Up next for WKU will be the Seminole Intercollegiate, where the Tops will be competing against the likes of Florida State and Arkansas. To round off March, the Tops travel to Memphis to compete in the Memphis Intercollegiate. This is the first time the Tops have competed in this tournament since the fall of 2017 where the Tops finished fourth.
Following Memphis, WKU will take on the Irish Creek Collegiate once again. Last season, the Tops turned in a runner-up finish while having four players finish in the top 25.
For its final regular-season tourney, King’s squad will travel to West Viriginia for the Mountaineer Invitational. The Tops finished third in this tournament last year against a field that consisted of St. John’s, Xavier and West Virginia.
WKU will compete for a Conference USA Championship between April 21-24 in Texarkana, Arkansas. Last season, the Tops finished sixth as a team while WKU graduate Luke Fuller captured the individual title, clinching a berth to the NCAA regionals.
