A six-vehicle crash involving two tractor-trailers Thursday afternoon in Hart County left one person dead, and the driver of one of the tractor-trailers was arrested by police.

According to Kentucky State Police, the crash occurred around 5:45 p.m. Thursday in the northbound lane of Interstate 65 near the 59-mile marker and initially involved two tractor-trailers traveling in parallel lanes.

The two vehicles made contact with one another in what KSP described as a side-swipe motion.

The driver of one of the tractor-trailers, Travis Williams, 49, of Sheridan, Ind., accelerated in front of the other tractor-trailer and stopped causing the two commercial vehicles to become stationary in the right lane.

KSP said this caused a chain of collisions, including the crash of a Ford F-250 pickup truck into the rear of one of the commercial trailers.

The driver of the truck, Dallas R. Woodard, 29, of Rineyville, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kiarra Padilla, 21, of Battletown, was flown to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment of her injuries and two other drivers were taken to T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow to be treated.

Williams was arrested by KSP on a count of first-degree wanton endangerment.
