The Art & Antiques Gallery in downtown Glasgow has recently re-opened its art gallery, showcasing for purchase an array of artwork donated by US Bank after the closure of its downtown branch.

The gallery, which was closed due to renovations, is located at 207 W. Main St. in the old JC Penney building on the corner of the  Glasgow Public Square and is adjacent to and affiliated with the South Central Kentucky Cultural Center — the Museum of the Barrens.

“We are very grateful to US Bank for this awesome donation,” said South Central Kentucky Cultural Center Executive Director Debbie Pace.

Pace said that they keep several items by local artists for their collection, some of which are currently on display in the Snavely Gallery, located in the museum.

“The rest of the collection is being sold as a fundraiser for the museum in the art gallery at Art & Antiques,” she said. “Many of these art pieces are from The Citizens Collection when the US Bank building was the location of the Citizens Bank and Trust. Many people in the community will remember the art displayed in their lobby.”

Included in the collection are works by local artist Joe Downing.

The gallery is also currently featuring for purchase wooden creations designed and hand crafted by local woodworker Peter Kallassy.

Shoppers can also find something for everyone on their Christmas lists by browsing the various booths at the store. Antiques, crafts, gifts, home decor, small jewelry, collectibles and large home furnishings are just some of the items that can be found.

And for those who want to spruce up their home for Christmas, several booths have Christmas decorations available for purchase.

Store hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. They are closed on Sundays.
