BOWLING GREEN – James Anthony “Jimmy” Parrish, Jr., passed away on October 6, 2023, at St. Vincents Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, from complications following a bicycle accident. He was surrounded by loving family members.

Born in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on March 30, 1950, Jimmy was the son of Jim and Dot Parrish. He was a graduate of College High School, Western Kentucky University, and the University of Kentucky, where he earned his MBA.

Jimmy was the Founder and CEO of Southern Edge Wealth Solutions. Previously he joined Eudaimonia Group as Chairman and was the vice chairman of B. Riley Wealth Management (formerly Wunderlich Securities) as well as serving as president of the Private Client Group and regional manager of Morgan Keegan. Above all Jimmy cherished time spent with his family members.

He and Mary Jane, his childhood sweetheart and beloved wife of 50 years, also enjoyed time with friends in Birmingham, Bowling Green, Memphis, and on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Jimmy was a lifelong athlete in a variety of sports, but his passion was always golf. He remained an avid sports fan, especially when it came to the Kentucky Wildcats.

What is less known because of his modesty is that behind the scenes, Jimmy unfailingly offered support, encouragement, and contributions to many who needed his help. He was always a believer but fell even more deeply in love with Jesus over the years. He was an active member of the Church of the Highlands in Birmingham.

In addition to his wife Mary Jane, Jimmy is survived by his son Bo Parrish and grandchildren Tro, Charlie, Dottie Anne, and Millie; his daughter Ann Wade Shreve (Briggs) and grandchildren Grayton, Will, and Bennett; and his sister-in-law Kathryn Jean Scarborough Patterson (David) and nieces Andrea Conley (Mike) and Miriam Dineen (Jarrett). Visitation at 1:00 PM and a memorial service at 2:00 PM will be held on Wednesday, October 11, at the Church of the Highlands Grants Mill location, 4700 Highlands Way, Irondale, Alabama. The Jimmy Parrish Memorial Garden Fund has been established by Leaf & Petal, 2817 Cahaba Road, Mountain Brook, AL 35223.
