Cox tallies 23 kills as Tops finish off sweep of Aggies

Western Kentucky junior Kaylee Cox tallied 23 kills to lead the Hilltoppers to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-23) win against Conference USA rival New Mexico State on Saturday in Las Cruces, N.M.

Cox, who tallied a match-high 20 kills in WKU’s 3-0 win against New Mexico State on Friday, established a new personal high for kills in a match in Saturday’s while posting a .553 hitting percentage.

Cox totaled 43 kills over the weekend, marking her season total to 247.

The Hilltoppers posted collective .296 team hitting clip and paired that with eight blocks and six aces from the service line.

In one of her best matches as a Topper, libero Abby Schaefer collected nine digs with solid control, including a point-earning save for the Tops.

Logan Grevengoed led the front line on defense yet again, stuffing four blocks at the net, followed by Kenadee Coyle and Gabby Weihe with three apiece.

Paige Briggs added six kills and nine digs, and setter Callie Bauer finished with 33 assists for WKU (18-4 overall, 8-0 CUSA).

The Hilltoppers return to E.A. Diddle Arena to host Sam Houston Oct. 20-21 in back-to-back CUSA matchups.{&end}
