Distracted driving a menace

So, I’m just curious. How many people have to be killed on motorcycles and in car accidents before someone does something about cell phones?
There has been at least five or six motorcycle fatalities in our area just in the last six weeks. People pulling out in front of them or turning in front of them. Then the person says I’m sorry I didn’t see them. The motorcyclist is still just as dead!
I realize in some cases motorcyclists ride too fast in areas they shouldn’t. But this whole distracted driving thing is ridiculous. We have no one to patrol or police it. Just the other day, a Bowling Green city cop passed me on 68/80, he was holding his phone up like he was texting.
It is sad that when someone is killed and the only thing you have to do is say I’m sorry I didn’t see them and you’re off scot-free with no consequences whatsoever. You should be the one who has to go explain to the wife and kids how you are responsible for their husband and dad never coming home again or their wife and mom never coming home again.
It’s way past time something was done to stop all this nonsense. Instead of auto makers putting so much in automobiles to promote cell phone use, why don’t they put something in cars that kill cell phone signals, so then people would have to stop and get out to use them.
