Bowling Green’s first Mardi Gras parade, organized by the Kiwanis Club of Bowling Green, is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Saturday in downtown Bowling Green.

Floats decorated for Mardi Gras will be led by Corvettes and Kiwanian Queen Janie Hurt in a horse-drawn Cinderella carriage.

“It has expanded quite a bit and we now have 42 floats,” said Flora Templeton Stuart, a Kiwanian whose law firm is the title sponsor. “We will have an amazing array of all sorts of different floats and Mardi Gras characters.”

Joining the parade will be Miss Kentucky, County Judge-Executive Doug Gorman as king and Stuart serving as one of the duchesses.

Before the parade, Circus Square Park will be the location of other Mardi Gras activities, including a pup parade at 1 p.m., a kid’s parade at 2 p.m., vendors, food trucks and music.

A few tickets remain available for the parade after party at 7:30 p.m. at La Gala, with live music from Tyrone Dunn & Kin-Foke and Bad Navigator. Tickets are $20 and may be purchased at BGMardiGrasAfterParadeParty.eventbrite.com.

All proceeds will go to local community and children’s organizations.
