The Cancer Center at The Medical Center is featuring the paintings of Kim Soule through Sunday.

The watercolors of Dr. Ray Cloutier are being shown at the Health & Wellness Center at Greenwood Mall through March.

The Capitol Arts Galleries extends a call to artists to apply for exhibits during the 2008-09 gallery season. Group exhibits and all media will be considered. For an entry application, contact Lynn Robertson at 782-2787.

VSA Arts of Kentucky will present “The Artist Within: Disabling the Myth,” through April 28. The exhibition will showcase 30 paintings created by adult artists with disabilities who participated in an optional basic art vocational program started eight years ago by Hugh E. Sandefur Industries Inc. for its employees in Henderson. This free exhibit is at VSA’s gallery at 515 E. 10th Ave. Gallery hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Memphis Marsha’s will host nine artists’ interpretations of the theme “Fresh.” Sculpture, drawing, painting, digital photography and mixed media pieces will be exhibited through March 29.

The Presbyterian Church is showcasing paintings by Neil Peterie until April 25 in the fellowship hall of the church at 10th Avenue and State Street between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The public is invited to a reception for the artist from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday in the fellowship hall.

Paintings by local artist Patty Hughes are on display at the Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce.

Bowling Green artist C. David Jones, a native of Glasgow, is displaying his art at the Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce.

Campus

Western Kentucky University’s department of music faculty member Anna Cromwell on violin and guest artist Mira Frisch on cello will host a strings recital at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center Recital Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.

Western Kentucky University’s Hardin Planetarium will present Robot Eyes II at 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays today to March 27; and at 2:30 p.m. March 23. Doors will open 15 minutes before show time and no one will be admitted once the show begins. Children under 12 should be accompanied b7y an adult. Admission is free.

Exhibits at the Kentucky Building on Western Kentucky University’s campus include: “U.S. Bank Celebration of the Arts,” which opens Sunday; “VSA Arts: Side by Side,” “Recommended by Duncan Hines,” “Western 100,” “Growing Up Victorian,” “Roads, Rails and Rivers,” “Hascal Haile: Guitar-maker to the Stars” and “Taking the Mystery out of Prehistory.” For more information, contact the Kentucky Building at 745-2592.

The Factory at Cave City will feature The Moon Woods Band from 8 p.m. to midnight on the first Saturday of each month. The facility is on U.S. 31-W, just north of the Ky. 90 intersection across from Dollar General.

Saturday Night Karaoke with Wayne Hallet will be from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. each Saturday at Burger On The Square in Franklin. The smoke-free facility is for the entire family, with the bar for adults only after 9 p.m. For more information, go to www.burgersonthesquare.com.

Music

Musicians will be banding together for a concert to benefit tornado victims in Monroe County and Macon County, Tenn., at 6:30 p.m. March 20 at Tompkinsville High School. Theater

Tickets are available for Public Theatre of Kentucky’s performance of “Cheaper by the Dozen.” Performances will be March 27 to April 13 at the Phoenix Theatre. Kentucky Repertory Theatre at Horse Cave is presenting “Beware the Ides of March,” a mystery dinner theater, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The audience is enlisted to help solve the crime. The American Red Cross has blood drives from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each Friday at its office, 430 Center St. Additional drives will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at Bowling Green Technical College, 1845 Loop Drive; from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Kroger on Campbell Lane; and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 22 at Harley-Davidson Bowling Green, 251 Cumberland Trace Road.

Green Market will have an expo and fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Glasgow Cumberland Presbyterian Church with free classes on diet and health, a mini market and silent auction. Food tickets will be sold to purchase sample items from the future cafe menu at the planned green market. Tickets at the door are $10 for adults and $4 for children. The Munfordville Presbyterian Women will sponsor an Antique Road Show and White Elephant Sale (which will include antiques) in the community room of the Hart County Public Library, 500 E. Union St., Munfordville, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Items will be appraised by an authorized antique dealer for $5 each. All proceeds will benefit the Hart County Public Library’s Summer Reading Program.

Bowling Green Parks and Recreation offers a twice-weekly “yoga aerobics” class from 8:15 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday at Parks and Rec., 225 E. Third Ave. Participants should bring a yoga mat, block and strap. The class is $20 a month.

UAW Local 2164 hosts Joe Hemphrey, Kentucky state service officer for Kentucky’s Veterans of Foreign Wars, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. every third Tuesday at the hall, 712 Plum Springs Loop. He is available to discuss things such as vision care, speeding up the claims process and registering for care at the VA clinic.
