- Far Off Broadway Players Dinner Theatre Comedies Return!
After a three year hiatus , the always popular Dinner Theatre shows presented by The Far Off Broadway Players have returned! In addition to the four or five plays and musicals that are presented each year at the Plaza Theatre, the Far Off Broadway Players also produced one show each year at the Cave City Convention Center. The last Dinner Theatre show was in 2019 and was the incredibly funny, Southern Fried Nuptials. “Patrons have been asking me when and if we will be doing our Dinner Theatres shows again, and I’m so happy to tell them we are finally back” said Paul Glodfelter, Artistic Director. “They’re even more excited when we tell them we are presenting one of the funniest plays we’ve ever done, Dearly Departed!”
The story takes place south of the Mason-Dixon line and centers around the Turpin family. When the patriarch of the family passes, the hilariously dysfunctional family must come together to plan the funeral. And let’s just say all does not go as planned. Old grudges, family problems and infidelity all rear their ugly head and threaten the peaceful sendoff of the family patriarch. This show has all the comedy you would expect from a FOBP Dinner Theatre Show, but it also has a lot of heart.
The show is packed with a cast of great actors, many of whom patrons have seen in other FOBP shows! The extended Turpin family is portrayed by local actors Charley Goodman, John Botts, Allen Hogan, Julie Adkins, Peggy Goodman, Hayley Peden, Sheila Atwell, Jessica Gilbert and Bradley Williams. Other hilarious roles are played by Sandy Roberts Dunn, Ralph Gentry, Sherri Hammer, Paul Glodfelter and Shawn Essex. The show is directed by Far Off Broadway Players board president, Charley Goodman. And the buffet meals are provided by Diane’s Catering.
There are two dinner performances, Friday July 15 and Saturday July 16. For the dinner shows, the doors open at 5:30pm, dinner at 6:00pm and the show begins at 7:00pm. Dinner show prices are $45 per person. There is one luncheon performance with a lighter menu on Saturday July 16. For the luncheon show the doors open at 11:30am, lunch buffet at 12:00pm and the show begins at 1:00pm. The Luncheon show price is $40 per person. There is also a show only performance with no dinner or lunch on Sunday July 17, doors opening at 1:30pm, show at 2:00pm. The show only performance ticket is $15 per person.
