A Warren County family is homeless after a fire Saturday afternoon devastated their house.
The Richardsville Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at 3:30 p.m. Saturday to a structure fire at 3591 Richardsville Road.
Brian Lee, chief of the Richardsville VFD, said the structure was the home of John and Megan Gonzalez and four children.
Lee said the fire originated in the back of the residence before climbing the exterior wall of the house and into the attic area.
He did not comment about what might have started the fire.
He said the family suffered no injuries, but two pets were not located and are presumed to have died.
“It is a total loss,” Lee said of the home. “There is significant damage to the structure. We notified the American Red Cross for them to help out the family to make sure they get back on their feet with their insurance company.”
