Bowling Green High School seniors Benedek Por and Henry Lindsey signed youth apprenticeship contracts with M&L Electrical on Aug. 26 as part of the BGHS’s first-ever Tech Ready Apprentices for Careers in Kentucky (TRACK) Youth Apprenticeship Program.
The students in the TRACK program will spend part of their school days at M&L working toward their education, also as paid employees. BGHS teacher David Loveland will work with the students for classroom requirements. At M&L, students will learn how to apply that knowledge on the job site.
Both Por and Lindsey will be close to finishing their first year of apprenticeship, a nationally recognized credential before graduating high school.
The program is a partnership between the Kentucky Department of Education’s Office of Career and Technical Education and the Kentucky Office of Apprenticeship.
