Bowling Green junior hitter Amirra Bailey rose to the occasion for the Lady Purples’ volleyball team in the Region 4 Tournament.

Bailey had 16 kills in the decisive title game against Warren East and was named the tournament MVP after leading Bowling Green to its third region title in four years.

“Whatever I will do, I will try my hardest,” Bailey said. “Just trying to help my teammates in general. It really makes me happy. Helping them in any way is all I want to do.”

Bailey, who was named first team all-state earlier this week, had a team-high 15 kills in Bowling Green’s 3-0 win over Heritage Christian. The Lady Purples will face Louisville Mercy in the quarterfinals at 10 a.m. CST Friday.
