Barren County sophomore guard Shelby Byrd has emerged as a scoring threat for the Trojanettes.

It’s a role that Byrd is relishing.

Byrd leads the Trojanettes, averaging 14.1 points a night – the only Barren County player to average in double digits. In Monday’s 65-47 victory over Monroe County, Byrd exceeded that average dropping in a game-high 18 points in the win.

“I enjoy scoring the ball and I love setting up my teammates,” Byrd said. “This year I feel like I really had to step up and a bunch of my teammates have too.”

Barren County can wrap up the top seed in the District 15 Tournament with a win against Allen County-Scottsville on Friday.
