Bowling Green girls win Raider Classic

Bowling Green’s girls’ track and field team took first place Saturday at the Warren East-hosted Raider Classic.

The Lady Purples tallied 110 points to top runner-up Greenwood (98.5) in the 14-team girls’ meet. Warren East was fourth (85.5), South Warren seventh (37.5), Warren Central eighth (25), Butler County 10th (16) and Franklin-Simpson 12th (12) among area teams.

In the boys’ meet, Owensboro scored 114 points to win the title. Greenwood was third with 79.5 points, Warren East fourth (66), Bowling Green fifth (56), South Warren seventh (44), Butler County 10th (28), Warren Central 11th (24) and Allen County-Scottsville 13th (8).

In the girls’ meet, Bowling Green got a first-place finish from Kristin Dent in the 1,600-meter run (5 minutes, 25.90 seconds) and the Lady Purples also scored wins in the 400-meter relay (50.75) and 800-meter relay (1:49.24).

Greenwood picked up first-place finish in the 1,600-meter relay (4:15.08), while Warren East got firsts from Amiyah Davis in the long jump (16-02.50), Jillian Harrell in the triple jump (31-00.75) and Rylee Fansler in the pole vault (9-06).

Warren Central’s Jaida Tooley won the high jump (5-02).

In the boys’ meet, Bowling Green’s Elvin FoFanah took home first-place honors in both the 110-meter hurdles (16.12) and 300 hurdles (41.19).

South Warren got firsts from Luke Spurrier in the 800 (1:55.06) and Jantzan Dunn in the high jump (6-02).

Greenwood’s 3,200-meter boys’ relay was first in 8:22.48, and Warren East’s Jackson Harrell won the triple jump (44.08.50).
