Tyler Lynch entered his first season competing in track and field for Butler County with no expectations. He’s now set the bar high for his senior year.

The Butler County junior placed third in the boys’ high jump at the KHSAA Class 2A State Track and Field Meet on May 31 in Lexington.

Lynch posted a finals jump of 6 feet, 2 inches to tie for third but also jumped 6-04 with a stress fracture in his jumping foot he suffered at the regional meet.

“Going into state, I obviously had high expectations,” Lynch said. “I was upset with the injury and how I performed with it, but I’m also thankful I made it to state in the first place and the fact that I got third was really honorable.

“I have higher expectations, but I don’t want to push too high.”
