Hot Rods finish off three-game sweep with 4-1 win at Lansing

Easton McGee held the Lansing Lugnuts to one run over seven innings while Tony Pena had three hits and an RBI in the Bowling Green Hot Rods’ 4-1 victory Monday in Lansing, Mich.
The win capped a three-game sweep of the Lugnuts and the Hot Rods improved to 9-2 in the second half and 48-33 overall. Bowling Green opens a four-game series with the Dayton Dragons beginning Tuesday and Wednesday at 6 p.m. CDT in Dayton, Ohio. Then, the series shifts to Bowling Green Ballpark for games on Thursday and Friday at 6:35 p.m.
Bowling Green broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning against Lansing starter Troy Watson when Pena put the Hot Rods in front with an RBI single. Izzy Wilson added a two-run single and Jordan Qsar swiped home on a double steal to cap the four-run rally.
McGee (6-2) earned the win, allowing one run on six hits with a walk and six strikeouts over seven innings. Joel Peguero earned his seventh save of the year after throwing two shutout innings, allowing three hits with two strikeouts.
Bowling Green has yet to name a starter for Tuesday’s game while Dayton will start RH James Marinan (2-8, 5.28).
