Brettkelly, Lo pace Tops at Challenge

Western Kentucky freshman Dominic Brettkelly hung within the top 15 Saturday as he and redshirt junior Linus Lo each shot 1-over 72s to pace the Hilltoppers in the second round of the Louisville Cardinals Challenge.

Brettkelly, competing in his second college tournament, is tied for 13th individually with a 139 (67-72) total at the par-71, 7,101-yard University of Louisville Golf Club in Simpsonville.

Lo is one shot back of Brettkelly and tied for 21st with a 140 (68-72) tally. 

The Hilltoppers, with a two-day total of 571, are tied for eighth in the 16-team field, which features six top-50 programs. They’re nine strokes out of fifth.

Redshirt senior Billy Tom Sargent is tied for 57th with a two-day total of 145 (69-76). Redshirt freshman Dawson McDaniel shot an 82 in the second round, while junior Tom Bevington improved by nine strokes from the first day with a 3-over 74.

Sophomore Chase Landrum, competing as an individual, shot a 1-over 72 on Saturday and is tied for 30th at 142 (70-72).

No. 17 Duke continues to lead the team standings with a 534 total.

The tournament concludes with the final round Sunday, beginning at 7:30 a.m.
