- Miami Dolphins quarterback Brandon Doughty (7) throws a pass over Minnesota Vikings defensive lineman Ifeadi Odenigbo (60) during the first half of an NFL preseason football game, Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, in Minneapolis.
The Miami Dolphins waived former Western Kentucky standout quarterback Brandon Doughty on Wednesday.
Doughty, a seventh-round pick (223rd overall) by Miami in the 2016 NFL draft, spent the entire 2017 season on the Dolphins’ practice squad. In 2016, Doughty was inactive for one game and spent the rest of the season on the team’s practice squad.
A native of Davie, Fla., Doughty was a three-year starter at WKU (2013-15). With the Hilltoppers, Doughty set 37 school records and became the program’s all-time leader in nearly every passing category, including passing yards (12,855) touchdown passes (111), completions (1,023), attempts (1491), completion percentage (68.6) and passer efficiency (161.0).
If no team claims Doughty off waivers, he will become an unrestricted free agent.
