The Salvation Army, at 400 W. Main Ave., confirmed Friday that it’s providing its additional warming stations for members of the public 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. over the weekend. Normally, it determines whether to supply the additional warming stations on the same day low-temperature weather is occurring — based on whether temperatures have stayed below 35 degrees Fahrenheit for an extended period, according to The Salvation Army Capt. Monica Horton.

The Capitol, at 416 E. Main Avenue, is set to expand its hours Monday 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Lifeskills’ Wellness Connection facility, at 428 Center St., has a scheduled opening Tuesday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Those stranded outdoors can call the Sheriff’s Office at 270-842-1633 for assistance getting to a warming center, Sheriff Brett Hightower has said. The Warren County Public Library Little Free Shuttle, reachable at 270-781-4882 (ext 904), will also be available for transportation to the warming centers; as the warming centers close, it’ll also take people to the LifeNav Collaborative Center for registration at the nonprofit Room in the Inn.

Room in the Inn, as usual, is collaborating with churches throughout the winter to continue providing overnight shelter. Check-in begins at 5 p.m. nightly at the LifeNav Collaborative Center, 400 W. Main Ave.

Horton also confirmed that people needing warming services who cannot access Room in the Inn’s overnight services should check in with The Salvation Army by 8 p.m. for an overnight stay. (Similar to during the day, The Salvation Army determines on a given day whether to provide this additional overnight warming service based on if temperatures have stayed below 35 degrees Fahrenheit for an extended period.)

Lunch, snacks and drinks are provided at the warming centers.

The Salvation Army welcomes donations, especially hat, gloves and other winter warming items, Horton said; among others that they’re seeking are hand warmers, chapstick, tissues, toiletries, coffee, bottled water, blankets and coats. They’re best dropped off at the center, she said.

To donate drinks, snacks, winter supplies (such as hats, gloves or hand-warmers) or money to contribute to those at this week’s warming centers, contact BG Neighbors at 615-581-7106 or bgneighbors.aid@gmail.com.
