WKU track wraps up first indoor meet at Rod McCravy Memorial

Western Kentucky’s track and field teams concluded action at their first meet of the 2025 season in the Rod McCravy Memorial Invitational on Saturday in Louisville.
Two different Hilltoppers set personal bests in the day’s events in Mary Dye and Kameron Horton.
The Hilltoppers started off the day’s events with a pair of top-20 finishers in the 60-meter semifinals as Horton led the charge claiming 10th and setting a new personal record of 6.85 seconds In the 400, Garrett Steed led the charge for the Tops finishing in 53.42.
In the longer races, Trevor Hudnall and Wade Balcom both finished within the top 10 in the men’s mile. In the women’s race, Addie Frisch led WKU finishing in 5:16.
In the women’s 3,000-meter race, Mary Dye set a new personal best finishing in 10:39. In the men’s race, Tyler Pfefferkorn led the team claiming a 13th-place finish of 8:50.
The final event of the day, the 4×400 meter relay, WKU’s men’s team composed of Joey Raybourne, Bralen Bair, Sterling Weldon and Van Thrasher finished up in 3:27 good for 11th place.
WKU will head back to the Derby City and the Norton Sports and Learning Center for the Bellarmine Open slated to run on Jan. 17.
