Bowling Green pitches road shutout

Bowling Green finished its regular season Friday with a 28-0 shutout victory at Bullitt Central.
The Purples (8-2) tallied their third shutout of the season, having also held Barren County and Warren Central scoreless.
Ziyon Kenner ran for a long touchdown, while Jayvan Collins rushed for three touchdowns on plays that started inside the Cougars’ 10-yard line. Dalton Major converted all four extra point attempts for BGHS.
The Purples open the Class 5A playoffs at home Friday night against Owensboro.

Hopkinsville 31, Greenwood 6
Triston Wilson (110 rushing yards) and Jackson Adams (90) combined for 200 rushing yards Friday but it wasn’t enough as Greenwood fell 31-6 at Hopkinsville.
Wilson returned a first-quarter kickoff for a touchdown, but that proved to be the only score of the night for the Gators (3-7).
The Tigers outgained Greenwood 405-242, with Mitchell Degenhardt running for two touchdowns and hauling in another.
Greenwood will travel to Apollo on Friday for the first round of the Class 5A playoffs.

Elizabethtown 20, Glasgow 12
Visiting Elizabethtown used a pair of special-teams touchdowns to rally past Glasgow on Friday night in the regular-season finale for both teams.
The Scotties led 12-7 at halftime, but Derek Smith’s 70-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and a 32-yard punt return by Jay Becherer for another third-quarter score put the Panthers ahead for good.
Glasgow (7-3) scored twice in the second quarter, first on Sielverio Rescontellio’s 2-yard touchdown run and later on a 39-yard touchdown pass from Tanner Abernathy to Jaden Franklin.
Franklin led the Scotties with three catches for 67 yards. Abernathy finished with a team-high 45 rushing yards.
Glasgow hosts Holy Cross (Covington) on Friday in the first round of the Class 2A state playoffs.

Xavier Patrick-Brown’s fumble return on a blocked field goal snapped a five-game scoreless streak for host Warren Central, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Meade County from rolling to a 44-6 victory Friday night.
Brown’s touchdown, an 85-yard run on the fumble recovery, came on the last play of the first half for Warren Central (0-10).
The Dragons visit Logan County on Friday for the first round of the Class 4A playoffs.
