Film production in Hart County seeking middle school extras

A film production that will start shooting Saturday in Hart County is looking for 80 middle school-aged children to work as extras.
Marissa Hale, an office production assistant for the production of “Mail Order Monster” and an adjunct member of the Southern Kentucky Film Commission, said these children are needed for two shoots Saturday and Sunday and one July 23.
“The big deal is I need 80 junior high students for three different days,” she said. “If they can be the same junior high students, that would be great.”
The shoots Saturday and Sunday are scheduled to last from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the July 23 shoot is expected to last from noon to 6 p.m.
Hale said she’s not looking for any specific kind of middle school student. “It’s anybody, really,” she said. “We’re looking for all looks and types.”
A news release said anyone interested in being an extra for the movie needs to send an email that includes the first and last name, phone number and email address of the child’s parent or guardian, as well as the student’s name, age and grade to momfilmextras@gmail.com.
Hale said she’s also looking for adult extras for other portions of the filming. People interested in appearing in the movie as background characters such as cafeteria workers and people at a diner should send head shots to the same email address.
Students don’t necessarily need to be available for all shoots to be featured in the film’s production, she said.
“Mail Order Monster” is a family feature about a middle school girl who orders the parts to make a monster to strike back at a bully who must also contend with her father remarrying three years after her mother’s death, according to a news release from Jax Productions LLC, the production company making the film.
“It’s a great story,” Hale said. “It’s something anyone can be happy and proud to be a part of.”
Paulina Lagudi, the film’s director, said the scenes will be filmed at Munfordville Elementary School.
The movie will be filmed in Glasgow, Munfordville and Horse Cave, Lagudi said.
Though filming has not yet begun, production is running smoothly and representatives of local communities have been cooperative, Lagudi said.
“It’s been phenomenal,” she said. “I know the crew is just so surprised by how helpful everyone’s been.”
Lagudi said she anticipates finding enough extras for the scenes being shot at Munfordville Elementary School because there’s been a strong local interest in being part of the movie.
“We’ve not had an issue with finding people at all,” she said.
