Dominique Jones hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer Sunday to lift the Tampa Bulls past the Kentucky Kings 88-87 in the second round of The Basketball Tournament in Charlotte, N.C.
Jones, a former South Florida standout, scored a game-high 29 points. His final 3 eliminated the Kentucky Kings, a team with deep Western Kentucky ties, from the $2 million, single-elimination tournament.
Former WKU star and NBA player Jeremy Evans led the Kentucky Kings with 20 points and 12 rebounds.
Evans’ fellow former Hilltopper standouts Tyrone Brazelton, A.J. Slaughter and Steffphon Pettigrew scored 11, nine and three points, respectively. The team was coached by former WKU player and assistant David Boyden.
