During Grammy’s weekend last month, Margie Clevenger and son Daniel Shultz, of Bowling Green, hosted a viewing party in celebration of Cage The Elephant, a Kentucky rock quintet featuring Clevenger’s sons and Shultz’s brothers—guitarist Brad and vocalist Matt Shultz—and long-time friends Daniel Tichenor, Jared Champion, Nick Bockrath and Matthan Minster.

Cage The Elephant experienced their first time onstage at the 59th Annual Grammys: a win for the Best Rock Album for “Tell Me I’m Pretty.” Their fourth LP released in December 2015 was produced by Black Keys’ frontman Dan Auerbach and musically inspired by a team-up frontman Matt Shultz had with The Doors’ guitarist Robby Krieger at the 2014 Bonnaroo Festival.

The full ballot featured Weezer’s “Weezer (White Album),” Gojira’s “Magma,” Panic! At the Disco’s “Death of a Bachelor,” and Blink-182’s “California.” Cage The Elephant’s last album “Melophobia” was nominated for the Grammy for Best Alternative Album in 2015, but the band lost out to St. Vincent’s self-titled effort.

Speaking of Bonnaroo, Cage has another appearance for the 2017 edition of Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, Tenn., slated for the music festival season along with Louisville’s Forecastle Music, Arts and Activism Festival. It doesn’t stop there. The band also will continue their tour across North and South America with many varied music festivals.
