Rector, who is in Warren County Regional Jail under a $15,000 cash bond, will appear before Warren Circuit Judge John Grise on Monday for arraignment.

Rector was arrested by the Bowling Green Police Department on Sept. 12 after an investigation developed him as a suspect in three robberies.

Police believe Rector committed the first robbery at Speedway on Walton Avenue on July 31, followed by a robbery at Wendy’s on Russellville Road on Aug. 3 and then a robbery at Subway on Scottsville Road on Sept. 3.

According to an arrest citation, city police received a tip that Rector was involved in the three robberies, and the subsequent investigation took police to Causey’s Auto Parts on Morgantown Road, where a car Rector had been driving was taken following a collision.

Police got consent from the owner to search the vehicle, and a black hat and sunglasses were found in the back seat. In the trunk, police found a black airsoft pistol, khaki pants, a long-sleeved green shirt and blue bandana.

“All items were consistent with what the robber wore at Subway,” BGPD Detective Melissa Wartak wrote in the arrest citation.

Rector was located near The Salvation Army, and he agreed to come to BGPD headquarters for an interview.

Before being advised of his rights, Rector confessed to robbing the three businesses using the airsoft gun found in the trunk of the car, according to the citation.

“He stated he needed money and it was the only way he could get money,” Wartak wrote.

After being informed of his rights, Rector continued speaking with detectives, saying that he took the gun into each business, displayed the gun and told employees that “it would be okay as long as he was given the money. …

“He stated he got rid of the black hoodie and shoes he wore in the Speedway and Wendy’s robbery, but the items located in the trunk of the car were what he wore when he robbed Subway,” Wartak wrote.

Each count of first-degree robbery is a Class B felony that carries a punishment of 10-20 years in prison.
