Woodward paces Austin Peay women in cross country opener

Austin Peay junior cross country runner Sarah-Emily Woodward (Bowling Green Class of 2014) paced her team to a fifth-place finish in Saturday’s season-opening Belmont Invitational in Nashville.

Woodward finished the race in 60th place overall after completing the course in 20 minutes, 32.1 seconds.

Austin Peay returns to action Thursday in the Powerade Invite in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Morehead State redshirt junior Taylor Montgomery (Barren County Class of 2013) helped her team to a third-place finish in Friday’s season-opening Morehead State Eagle 5K.

Montgomery finished 33rd overall in the women’s race with a time of 21:31.2. Morehead State returns to action Sept. 17 at the Commodore Classic in Nashville.

Also in the Morehead State Eagle 5K, Campbellsville freshman Taylor Davis (Barren County Class of 2016) helped her team to a fourth-place finish. Davis was 42nd overall with a time of 22:26.2. 

In the men’s race, Campbellsville junior Ross Allen (South Warren Class of 2014) was 55th with a time of 18:29.8, and Campbellsville freshman Hunter Jackson (Barren County Class of 2016) finished 58th (19:18.6) to help the Tigers to a fifth-place team finish. Campbellsville is back in action Saturday in the Mid-South Preview in Bowling Green.

Berea College senior Megan Hale (Allen County-Scottsville Class of 2013) helped her team to a second-place finish in Friday’s Berea/Centre College Cross Country Kick Off Classic in Berea.

Hale finished 45th overall in 14:07.6 in the two-mile run. Berea is back in action Sept. 10 in the Centre Invitational.

Georgetown freshman Madeline Elder (Warren East Class of 2016) was 47th overall in 14:08.2, helping her team to a fourth-place finish. Georgetown returns to action Sept. 10 in the Mid-South Preview meet.

In the men’s race, Georgetown junior Ben Peterson (Bowling Green Class of 2014) was 62nd overall in 18:06.2 to help the Tigers finish sixth. Centre freshman Wilson Blakeman (Warren Central Class of 2016) was 78th in 18:56.7.
