Hot Rods win ninth straight road game

The Bowling Green Hot Rods secured a franchise record ninth straight road win with a 7-2 victory over Fort Wayne (Ind.) at Parkview Field on Thursday.

Manny Sanchez had three hits and an RBI, while Peter Maris added two hits and two RBIs and David Rodriguez finished with two hits and two runs scored.

Genesis Cabrera improved to 9-4, allowing two runs and five hits with five strikeouts over five innings of work.

With the victory, Bowling Green (68-46 overall, 31-14 second half) moves to 12 games clear of a playoff spot with 24 games remaining. The magic number to clinch the first postseason berth is 14.

The Hot Rods will continue the series in Fort Wayne at 6:05 p.m. CDT on Friday. Right-hander Tyler Brashears (6-0, 1.93) is scheduled to start for Bowling Green, with right-hander Emmanuel Ramirez (1-0, 4.75) scheduled to start for Fort Wayne.
