Feedback sought on student success

Kentucky is changing the way it defines student success, and the public has an upcoming opportunity to make their voices heard.

Commissioner Stephen Pruitt of the Kentucky Department of Education will host an online town hall meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The meeting is an attempt to allow those who couldn’t attend any of the 11 previous in-person town hall meetings a chance to give feedback. That feedback will be used to develop a new accountability system for seeing how successful Kentucky’s schools are.

Those participating in the town hall can hear Pruitt speak at the set time or later on demand.

The move to redesign accountability in Kentucky comes after the recent passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act, which is designed to shift more oversight for schools to states from the federal government.
